How to Throw an Amazing New Years Eve Party on a Budget
Posted on Dec 08 17
Staying in and partying at home with friends is officially the new going out. Forget spending half the night queuing at the bar and paying extortionate ticket and taxi prices. Invite your friends round, buy some nibbles, have a killer playlist and some fun games and your set for an amazing new years eve! Here’s how to start 2018 fabulously and frugally.
Invite Close Friends
If you invite half of Facebook to your party the costs will start to add up. Having a smaller guest list means you will spend less. More importantly, it will allow you to relax and enjoy the party, connect with everyone and there won’t be as much cleaning to do afterwards!
Keep It Simple
You don’t want to spend half the night in the kitchen cooking. Make some easy low-cost appetizers, such as cheese-and-crackers, pate, olives and crusty bread. An even simpler option is pizza, it’s always a winner, just buy a few frozen pizza’s and stick them in the oven.
A good pre-prepared playlist can be the difference between a good party and a great one. The perfect New Years Eve playlist will be a combination of classics and the recent hits. Here are ten songs you must have on your playlist to get you started –
#1 Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars
#2 Celebration by Kool & The Gang
#3 Sing It Back by Moloko
#4 Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO
#5 Get Lucky by Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams
#6 I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas
#7 Bang Bang by Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj
#8 Gangnam Style by PSY
#9 Shut Up And Dance by Walk The Moon
#10 Sorry by Justin Bieber
Ask Everyone to Bring Their Favorite Drink
Alcohol is often one of the most expensive purchases for a New Years Eve party. Ask everyone to bring their favorite cocktail to share, not only will this keep costs down, it will give you and your guests a chance to try some new drinks.
Accept Offers Of Help
It is inevitable that guests will ask if they can bring anything with them. Say yes! They will appreciate that you are holding the party at your house so they won’t mind being asked to bring a few nibbles, drinks or a party game.
Visit the Poundshop!
Pound shops are your best friend! They are amazing for low-cost decorations, nibbles, paper plates and cups, party games and more.
You need some silly party games to break up the night in the lead-up midnight. They are fun, funny and guaranteed to make your night memorable! You will find lots online, but here’s a completely free and totally hilarious game to get you started –
