Amazing Soul Wedding Bands & The Vibe You Should Expect

Posted on Jun 27 19

Whether your bent runs towards the more traditional melodies of Motown, or the newer strains of R&B and funk, soul provides the basis of some of the most extraordinary music around. It’s romantic. It’s fun. It can be joyful and heart-breaking in equal turns. Not to mention brimming with attitude. And when it comes to a celebration, soul just can’t be beaten. No wonder soul bands are such a popular choice for weddings. So, what can you expect when booking a soul band for your big day?

The Bands

Earcandy have two extraordinary live soul bands performing sets from different eras. Both are comprised of highly experienced professional musicians and vocalists, who know what it takes to make a wedding thrum.

Motown Gold

Think of Motown and you think of glamour, style and absolute panache. You think of classic songs delivered with unparalleled cool. And you think you think of a sound that perfectly epitomises the feelings of heart and soul. And that’s precisely what you get when you book Motown Gold for your wedding. The song list blends unequivocal classics with bespoke medleys and disco anthems. Your guests will be dancing before they know what’s happened. The vibe is smooth, groovy and effortlessly upbeat. These guys are the ultimate atmosphere-makers for any occasion.

Soul Fresh

Sharp, sassy and stylish, Soul Fresh combine the best of new soul and R&B to deliver a performance like no other. Their high-energy set takes in chart hits and soul classics, from Ariana Grande to CC Peniston. And each one is delivered with the band’s own unique flare and style. But it’s not just the music that will get your guests on their feet, but the oozing charisma and audience interaction delivered by our leading lads and ladies.

The Logistics

Generally speaking, a full soul band will be larger than your average wedding band. As well as the singers, guitarists and percussion, at the very least a soul act will feature a sax, if not a full brass section. This is really important to remember when planning your reception. It’s not a deal-breaker if you are working with a more intimate venue as there are front-line alternatives available (more on that later). But if your heart is set on the full shebang – and what a shebang it can be! – then it’s important to know what to expect from the off.

The Alternatives

While the sound of soul tends to be BIG, there are a couple of fabulous alternatives if you are working with a smaller venue. Motown Gold Frontline and Soul Fresh Frontline give you the wow of a live performance without requiring the stage space of a full instrumental set up. The lead singers perform to a specially arranged pre-recorded backing track, giving you the vibe and the sound of a full band, while requiring minimal space.

Whichever option you go for, there’s one thing that you can be certain of: that your soul wedding band will shape the style of your wedding. With a sound that can fill any room and a style that your guests will never forget.

With our outstanding artists, cutting-edge equipment and professional sound technicians, Earcandy can make your wedding reception into the best soul event you’ve ever attended.
